NICOLAS MAILLART EXTRA BRUT CHAMPAGNE

Tasting Notes

It has a golden colour with fine lingering beads. Creamy mousse. On the nose, it has a pronounced intensity with citrus fruits, hazelnuts and a slight toastiness. On the palate, it has initially a wonderful fresh and vinous impact followed by a great finesse. It has a very long finish.

Winery

The history of the family can be traced back to 1753, now with the ninth generation Nicolas continues to the tradition of the house. Nicolas returned in 2003 after completing his studies in engineering and oenology. He is now in charge of the almost three hundred years old tradition and maintains the house philosophy of
bringing our the full potential of the Champagne terrors in their wines.

Vinification

Pinot Noir is dominant, with a complement of Chardonnay that brings freshness to the blend. The high percentage of reserve wines (30 to 40%), aged in barrels, confers a high regularity and style to this Extra Brut Champagne. Only “Grand” and premier crus are used in this wine, with origins in the Montagne de Reims, on vineyards managed by Maillart. With a very gentle process, the richness of the grapes are kept. Aged around three years on its lees, this Brut Platine develops all its richness. A natural balance and freshness allows a low dosage (3 g/l).
